My aim in this blog is to present some
of the lesser known aspects of the history of Irish involvement in both North and South America.
History is an interlocking series of events involving many peoples and incidents. As students we all studied about the principal players and the main events of the past and their significance for our lives today. But history also involves other people and other events of lesser fame, those who/which are only footnotes to the larger figures and events of what really happened. They too have contributed (albeit perhaps to a lesser extent) to developing our world of today. These people, these episodes of past history, are my interest in this blog.
